Air Travel in India. Air India
Most Indian passport holders choose the national airline hoping for treatment that is better than what they can expect in Air France and British Airways, where it is alleged that being an Indian could mean being treated like unwanted cargo.Air India however, does not seem to offer anything better to the hapless Indian traveler. The total apathy and the complete lack of passenger interest is evident in this video.
I believe it is worse in the Middle East routes where the passengers are blue collar workers and are treated typically like "cattle" .
Incidentally, "cattle class" is a term which was used to refer to those traveling in the economy class, by Mr Shashi Tharoor, the MP and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Mr Tharoor was asked to resign, no not for this remark, but following allegations of corruption and misuse of office in the IPL Cochin franchise formation. But his remark is indicative of how our elected representatives look at the voting public! Not surprising that the State owned airline should treat the people of this country in this fashion!
I believe the rot starts at the top and the Minister concerned, Mr Praful Patel should be asked to resign. Where there is political will, performance follows and the turnaround of the Indian Railways under Mr Lalloo Prasad Yadav is a case in point.
